Wouldn't you know it, I launch my boat into the bay to see some fireworks down in sausalito and san francisco last night, motor out to the channel, give it more throttle and I go no faster... I put it back into neutral, try reverse, same thing.

I pulled the console cover on the engine and look at the linkage, everything seems fine, no obstructions, but I cannot get the engine to throttle over 2,000rpm. The handle physically feels stuck... in both directions...

additionally it only throttles to 2,000rpm in both nuetral and in drive...

Any thoughts?

I've searched on e-bay, I've also looked at the plastic housing of the mercruise control (while on my back peering up through the side of the boat)... do these things get stuck? can they be serviced?

Bummed out... would've liked to see the fireworks, but i guess it was better this happen close to harbor than out in the middle of the san francisco bay.
