i just finished putting my 1967 sport four 60 hp manual shift model 60733 Evinrude lower unit back together.
IT has two pieces upper housing and lower housing which are bolt together with studs and lock nuts then a big fat o-ring which keeps the oil in.
It is leak at that o-ring on one side only where the upper and lower gear housing meet, when it gets hot out. The manual called for 16-18 foot pounds of torque . So torqued both studs to specs per manual. still leaked
i loosened and torqued again to 16-18foot pounds. still small leak.
I also used Johnson gasket sell on o-ringwhen i put it together was that wrong?
Is 16-18ft pounds correct torque?
I used a off brand of Gear oil 80-90w Apsi and Gsl certified same thing the marine low gear bottle said it just did say marine oil.
