Well, I just Googled drop shotting, and found a bunch of pages which are guides to the technique. You could do that, too, and I'll bet you'll find out everything you want to know, complete with illustrations, which are hard to do here.

Google is a great resource.

The sinker extends farther down the line than the bait or lure. Allows you to bounce the sinker off the bottom and keep the bait/lure a measured distance off the bottom.

Thanks rndn , now for the first time i know what people are talking about.( drop shot) I have done that all my life and didnt know it.
