I'm about to repair a Broken Kayak Paddle,.......

Originally,.... Before the Kids broke it, it was adjustable between having the blades on the Same plane, 45*s from the Same Plane,+ 90*s from the Same.........

Well,....... I'm going to Weld it,....... Which brings up the Question............

If you have Only 1 Choice,...........
Which of the 3 Choices would You go with,..??..??........

I use mine on the same plane because I have a bad wrist that I can't turn easily, but on the same plane means rookie, novice, and other related things to other kayakers. Most are at 90* or so, but just use whatevers easiest for them.

It's the same with me, I made kayaks in the early 70's and have some in the Barn, But I haven't used them in a few years, my boys did use them though.

Hey, there's no argument here. I just do what comes easiest. The reason for feathering is to help against winds so you get less resistance. It does make a difference in some conditions but I rarely see the need. When I do it they are set at 45 degrees but it tires the wrists faster than when using straight blades. We do easy 10-20 mile trips and the distance or effort between feathering and not feathering isn't measurable except in macho minds.
