Hi All,

Tried to beat the heat the other day during our heat wave in the Northeast. The engine started up fine and ran well for an hour until I shut it down. Started the engine with no problem and then it just shut down on its own. Hasn't been going since. Luckily I was near a ramp and brought her home.

It appears there's no spark. The rectifier looks like it had a short. The plastic melted and this brown liquid seaped out. I ordered a new one. But, until the part comes I decided to check out other possibilites. There's no mercury switch to test, but I did test the saftey kill switch and it seems ok.

1st question- can the kill switch be unplugged to bipass it.

2nd, how do you test the ignition switch-I have a service manual but can't find the this test.

What else might you test?

Thanks,

SDC
