My '94 Johnson 200 Oceanrunner starts and runs well, but after cruising for 20 min. or more and turning engine off to drift fish for a while it blows the 20 amp fuse when I try to restart it. This only happens when the engine is warm from running a while. At the dock I can start, stop, and restart without blowing fuses. Any ideas why?? Thanks.

Re: Johnson 200 blowing fuses

as you add heat resistance climbs so start by checking the wiring in the starting system. this is you yellow/red wire, start solinoid, and big red connector look for bad connections

Re: Johnson 200 blowing fuses

It just blows when you are trying to start it right?

Tricky one. Could be an intermittent short to ground somewhere on your starter wire (yellow with red stripe) which makes contact when the motro warms up. This could be around the solenoid or safety switch (the one that stops you starting the motor in gear) areas.

Possibly could be a faulty solenoid.
