Just changed engine/tach - Prop size confusion!

I just changed the engine on my boat to a 2007 Evinrude E-Tec 90 HP. The boat is a 2000 Sun Tracker Pontoon.

With the new tach, I get 4700 rpm at WOT swinging a 14 x 13. Dealer is advising me to go to a 14 x 11 Hydrus, saying that pontoon boat owners having hydrus props all swear by them.

From what I know, I should pick up about 400 RPM and maybe less due to the cupped blades. And the Hydrus is not Stainless which is what I want.

What do I do to get at the 5500 RPM rating of the motor?

Engines make their power at a specific rpm. The current prop may not allow the engine to make its maximum power. The 400 RPM you mention is a "theoretical" number. In reality, the added 400 rpm puts the engine over 5100 which is not on its power peak which may actually allow the engine to rev higher than 5100 because its no longer being lugged.
