Hi, I am new to this forum. I have some knowledge of boat motors and motors overall. My boat motor recently blew up, it is a 1986 165 hp 3.7 liter mercury inboard engine. The engine was skipping so I took the head off. I have ordered a new gasket set, etc but now I have found that the 3rd cylinder's connecting rod is apparently broken
. I now realize what the clanging noise was. I was wondering if it would be a waste of time and money trying to repair this or if I should spend my time looking for a new motor. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
