Welcome to iboats, cashtim.

You might want to include some additional info in your post.

"easyiest and cheapest used power boat "
Leaves a lot to the imagination.

Where do you live?
What waters will you be on? small inland lakes?
Lake Superior?
Saltwater?

How old is your child?
A 14' fishing boat with a 20 hp motor is exciting for a 5 year old.
But will certainly not excite a 14 year old.

What is your total boat purchase budget? $1000? $12,000? $25,000?

A small aluminum boat with an outboard would be the cheapest and easiest, but may not suit your needs.
