I am having a hard time finding out wat model motor I have.
I have looked everywhere and no numbers i find match up.
It is an evinrude 25hp and the only numbers i have found on it are stamped on the side of the engine which is the serial number i think... It says A1606139
I have attached some pics to look at if anyone could help...
Cheers
P.S I am in Australia... are the model numbers different here?
How ya goin batto. Nice tinny.
Hope your name refers to your ability at cricket .
Where in oz are you, Queensland?
Me missus has heaps of relos in NSW, many of whom are stateside now on holiday. We were down under last Christmas. Welcome mate.
I own a motor very much like yours, it's late 80's early 90's vintage, any earlier than that and they had a different tiller/throttle setup.
Cracker of a motor, IMO the best OMC eva made.
Yours has seen its fair share of salt hey. I'm not sure about those numbers-- may refer to a military application, or the A may be for Aus. I'll try to check for you next week. Cheers

Hey mate im in WA, up north at the moment.... Kununurra
The rego papers say that the boat is a 1986 Dehavilland so I assumed the motor was made in the 80's sometime, but am not sure if it is the original motor that came with the boat.
Yer the fella i bought the boat off used it mainly in salt water, but I will only be using it in fresh water for fishing.
Judging by your pics, I thought it looked tropical. Reckon you're in the dry season right about now. Unlike most of Oz, tonnes of fresh water up your way too.
Those motors (32 cu. inch displacement, not sure of the metric equivalent) are quite rugged and torquey for their size and weight. Very dependable, easy to work on, and should be easy to get parts for.
As I posted earlier, it's likely late 80's early 90's, I'll post back Monday (Tuesday to you!) when I can get my hands on some info.
Enjoy mate.
Sorry, Battwell, checked my code info source, no luck. Must be a serial # on that freeze plug, not a model #.
Everything I wrote before still applies, however.
All the best.
No worries mate, thanks alot for your help anyway.
I'm gonna give the guy I bought it off a ring and see if he has any info.
Looks like the Plate with the model number has come off somewhere in its journeys because there is a square patch on the motor where the paint looks new.
