115 omc turbojet performance problem

My 1994 engine cranks and runs at low speed just fine. However, when you accelerate the power is woefully lacking and the top speed is probably 60 -70 % of norm. I have replaced plugs, plug wires, and electronic control module.

I replaced the turbojet drive unit two seasons back and have maybe 20 to 30 hours of use on the new unit and I have been careful to not run my boat shallow and risk sucking up sand. At $1200 a pop, I can't afford to replace the jet drive again.

I had an Evinrude/Johnson repair shop run a compression check last season because of this problem and compression was fine. To check out if the engine was fuel starved, I pressed the ignition key while running at full throttle and it chokes the engine down. I am thinking it is not a fuel problem but maybe a lack of fire to the plugs so I will probably have a shop run an electrical test on it.

Any advice?

Re: 115 omc turbojet performance problem

Check your fuel pump! I had exactly the same problem with my 115 omc turbojet. Instead of buying new fuel pump for over 300$ from the dealer I went to NAPA and got universal electric pump with 4-7 psi for 40$. With your ignition ON find the right power + wire( pump must be off when ignition switch is in OFF position). That's it! Mine is runnig perfectly ever since! Make sure u don't forget to mix gas with oil since your vro pump will not be connected.Do not buy pump with less psi because it is not pumping enough gas at full throttle.
Hope this will help!
