What should compression be on a 55 HP Evinrude?
I have a 1987 Evinrude 55HP 2 cyl. Can anyone tell me what the compression should be in each cylinder

rule of thumb 100 psi minimum and within 10% between cylinders.

I have a 1988 Evinrude 40 HP which is essentilialy the same engine. it carries 150psi on both cyls. Aprox. 500hrs on it.

77 Johnson 55hp, 135 psi on each cyl.

every compression tester is a little different, preferably over 100 and with in 10% as stated before.
