Hi all,

Have a Baja Islander 19 with a Mercruiser 3.0L engine. Got the boat last fall, ran it a few time and put it up. Took it out this year and it started up fine. After warming up whenever I go to idle it runs at a very low RPM 7-800 and will eventually die. It makes it tough to dock. I do not believe it is the shift cables because whenever I shift from neutral into gear (forward or reverse) it will run for a few seconds then it slowly dies. I believe it might just need a tune up. I am an OK back yard mechanic. What are the steps to tune up a Mercuriser 3.0L with Electronic ignition. Is there an online MX manual that explains how to give it a tune up, or is this something I should let a Mercury dealer do. If I go the dealer route what should it cost (ballpark price) I live just north of Cincinnati OH.

Thank you from a Newbie to this forum. :D

Welcome to iboats......:)
Impossible to steer you in the right directon on a manual without a year or preferably a serial #........
A tuneup should be 1-2 hours plus parts......
If you are not helpless & have some tools, timing light, etc., it is doable.......:)
