I have a 1998 Johnson Venom on a 1998 Ranger R91(19'9")
I have been having problems with it stalling out on me for 2 years now. It's hard to start in the mornings(I basically have to keep chocking it until it finally will stay idleing without stalling) and when I go to give it gas it will stall out before I get on plane. Sometimes I can put the throttle all the way forward without getting on plane then it will stall out.
I have taken it 2 places. The first tried to adjust the carburators becuase he said it sounds like it's missing every now and then. That did not help at all.
The second guy recently replaced the jets in the carburators to a bigger size. He said that the engine is getting plenty of oil and not enough gas. The boat does run better but is still hard to start in the mornings and still stalls out every now and then especially when I'm putting the it back on the trailer.
Does anyone have some suggestions as to what I need to do or look for to try to solve this problem?
