How is the reputation of these motors? Parts availibility? I was given one and intend to put it to work on the river.

Bill, Welcome to i boats. what's the model number, and HP? under the front of the motor between the transom clamps, theres a plate. they are great dependable motors, easy to work on. i've had several, and have a 58 35hp now.

TD, isn't the '57 Fastwin the read and white 18hp? It's a good engine. Ensure good compression first before doing any work on it.

samo, it's the loyal evinrude blue. http://www.old-omc.de/e_1957/seite_16_17.jpg

this is what it's not suppose to look like under the flywheel, these coils were toast. this is my 35 hp, but the 18 is alike. http://forums.iboats.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1349&d=1177071230

if you want to make it like a total new motor, if it has good compression, you can do carb kits, coils, points, condensers, and inpeller for around $150. laingsoutboards. com has everything you need. questions welcome.

also follow this post as the info he gets, is pertainent to your engine. his just has bigger cylinders. i just sold a 55 15hp that ran better than new ones.
