Hi, I recently the UK Mariner importer to ask the age of my Mariner 8hp outboard, they said from the serial number it was made in 1977, it seems too modern for that, please take a look at some photos of it at http://www.wcrccc.co.uk/mariner.htm
and see if you think it looks like a 30 year old engine. thanks.
p.s. the engine has the yamaha logo in a couple of places.
