I have removed all the bolts but it appears to be froze in place. I tried hitting it with a piece of wood and a hammer and prying on it. This starter has 2 nuts that hold it on with to studs protruding from back of motor. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't have a clear-cut answer, but I did have that problem once, too many years back to remember all the details.

We ended up dismantling the starter while still in the block.Somehow this gave us enough room or leverage to do the job,and get it unstuck.

Good Luck,

I got it to move about 1mm with a huge pry bar. I think maybe I will try heating it with a propane torch. Any other ideas?

Theres 4 bolts holding it in place, 2 behind, and 2 on a support bracket in front of the starter. Took me about an hour to figure that out, then 3 minutes to remove it.

Have fun :)

Welcome to iboats surfcoastie.
Please don't answer/reply to old posts. This one is from 2007. I would hope he has figured it out by now.
