Hi,

I'm new to Bayliners and also to boating. Just last week I bought myself a 03 Silverado and a 93 Capri 1850. About the only problem I am noticing is the effort it takes to throttle up. I know there is an adjustment on these controls, but mine does not look like the controls in the manuals. Mine has a rocker style trim at the thumb position, a trailering switch in the middle of the control shaft and a throttle only button where the whole thing pivots. So, about the only thing I can see to adjust is an allen screw at the 6 oclock position on the pivot point , am I correct in assuming this is the tension adjustment? Or have the engineers hidden it somewhere else?

the up down switch is strictly for trimming the outdrive up or down. the throttle only is you you can have the boat in water and you can run the RPMs up without having to have the boat in gear. basically it would be liek you putting your truck in neutral and pressing n the gas.
the trailer button Im not sure what its for but Im assuming you hit the button and it brings the outdrive up all the way so you can trailer it home.

I dont think thats a tension adjustment. When you pull the throttle lever out and you push it forward is the throttle smooth and easy going forward and backward ( Rev). if it is the problem is not the throttle cable or lever but it could be the shifter lever to the outdrive thats binding up.
Remove all the cables from the throttle lever AT THE ENGINE SIDE and then try to shift the shifter both as if you were driving it and also as if you jsut rev the motor. if its all smooth and easy the problem lies somewhere else. if its stiff then you can disconnect the cables at the throttle lever one at a time and see. whichever one is binding up will make the hard stiff throttle go away.
