1988 25hp Mariner outboard
Problem:
The engine starts and idles fine when the throttle is not engaged. When the throttle is engaged and the engine attempts to increase rpm it bogs down and acts sluggish. Problem is intermittant. Seems to dissipate the more the engine warms.
First Thoughts:
-Engine was running one single cylinder (Ruled out through compression test and ignition test)
Is it possible to run on two cylinders w/o the the throttle in gear then run on one when the throttle is put into gear?
Checked:
I've checked the compression and the ignition coils both show no signs of problems.
Any thoughts and/or comments would be appreciated. Im leaning more towards a fuel related problem.
