Default How do I change the stearn light?

I have a 1997 Bayliner 2250. The stearn light burnt out. I was wondering if anyone knew how to bet the cover off so the light can be changed. I did not receive an owners manual when I bought the boat. Thanks for the help.

There should be two screws on the outside of the fixture. Take em' out and it will remove the trim bezel giving you access to the bulb. If no screws on the outside then you'll have to be a contortionist and remove it from the inside. Simply twist and pull the bulb housing out. If you give Bayliner a call @ 877-861-6494 they will ship you a photocopy of your owners manual. Have your HIN handy - they will ask for it. They are on the west coast so figure your time difference - 3 hours behind the east coast.

When you get it apart as per the previous directions hold it up to the light to see if this filament is toasted.
If not...it may not be the light bulb but the (plug-in) connection at the base. My stern light did not work at first and I thought it might be the bulb. On closer inspection on the connections (both male and female) I noticed they were a little 'green' and mildly corroded. I have a removeable stern light rather than a fixed one so my boat has a receptacle (with a cover) with the male elements buried deep down in there. It was a little time consuming cleaning them up but it paid off.
I cleaned them both up with fine grit sand paper and voila'...stern light magnifique. It worked...it was the connection not the bulb.
So if it ain't the bulb...check it out.
Good luck
