Help!! Mercruser won`t idle.

1997 5.7 ltr v8 won`t idle. It runs perf above 1500 rpm. It has the 2brl carb and it ran well when i put her away last season with a full tank of fresh fuel and stablizer. Dose this carb have a low speed jet that could be cloged?Were should i start???? I changed the fule water filter and added some gas treatment and still no idle with all the mid and top end you could ask for.Thanks, Fred

Yes the idle circurt is plugged, most cases by removing the idle adjustment needles and blowing them out or spraying them out with carb cleaner will help. Makes you want to go buy some more stablizer for next fall don't it.

On the two brl there is one spring loaded ajustment screw on the frunt bow outside of the carb. Is this the idle circuit screw ?? the other ajust screw is mechanical on the linkage. I guess the quettion is do i have to pop the top off the carb to get to the idle circurt????? No shop manual .Thanks Fred
