Can this be done on a 1985 Johnson 90HP? Can I remove the VRO and replace it with a non VRO fuel pump ?. If so what pump do I buy and what do I do?

Any fuel pump from a 78-83, V-4 will bolt right up. The VRO pulse line will go to the fuel pump pulse line.

Just go here and look at the intake manifold and fuel pump for 1983 90HP model. You have the same intake manifold on most 1985 90HP, so if you unplug the port, you should be able to bolt the fuel pump right to the intake manifold and plug the pulse port.

Disconnect the 3 or 4 wire VRO wiring plug and tape it up.

You will then have to remember to mix 50:1.

BTW, the part number for the pump has been superseded by 438,556.
