I'm looking for a four blade or high pitch prop for an Evinrude 9.5 HP pin drive prop. I'm using the motor as a kicker and the 8 1/8" x 8 isn't quite enough thrust at the speeds I want to run. Are there any commercially available props that would fit my application? Thanks

Need a little more info.What are you pushing?
Do you feel the motor can't reach its max rpm now?
There are props listed here from 6 1/2 to 9 inch pitch.I believe
they are all 3 blade.I would think one would work for you.
Your not likely to want more pitch (higher number)
Depending on what you are pushing you won't get much more than 6 or 8 mph.What you need to shoot for is the best rpm boat speed will follow.
You really need a tach to check RPM don't guess.Too high or to low is hard on the motor.A Tiny Tach is easy to install and affordable.A dealer will usually let you use a tach and test props if you are going to buy.

I'm using the engine for trolling on a 17.5' aluminum deep V. Trolling speeds of .5- 2.5 MPH. I don't want a prop for speed, I want a prop for maximum thrust at lower engine speeds. I know I'm going to get the "that's not good for the motor, carbon buildup, etc", but that's fine. I want lower engine RPM's and higher thrust. That's why I am looking for more pitch or a 4 blade. Thanks for the help!

Lower engine rpm and higher thrust is a contradiction. Think about your car. If you want to go slower you downshift, not upshift which is what you indicate you want to do. On a boat the prop is your transmission. You want a prop with less pitch, not more. Thrust is gained with rpm. Pitch is what keeps the engine its rpm band. That engine running at 3000 rpm (or any rpm) with a 6-inch pitch prop will give you a slower speed than a 9-inch pitch at the same rpm. And you will have far more control over that speed than with the high-pitch prop. Why do you think pontoon props are down in the 11P range when the same engine on a planing hull will run anything from a 19 - 23PP

I didn't explain very well, but you did make some lights go off. Here's the scenario- I'm trolling into a wind. Boat is a little tough to control going straight into it and I've got the engine at 1/2 throttle to maintain speed. First thing is I'd like to find a prop that I can run at lower engine speeds but yet still maintain the trolling speeds I want. Maybe what I want is not possible- lower engine speed, same trolling speed- and all accomplished through prop. Am I making any sense?

I hate to keep saying you contradict yourself but if you need half throttle to maintain control, lowering engine speed by chaning the prop worsens the control problem. Why -- for the simple reason you already require half throttle (that's half power) to maintain control. Increasing prop bite slows the engine down to be sure -- but it also means you need to pay much more attention to how much throttle you need to apply to maintain control. The key here, is if you can't maintain the speeds you want (0.5 to 2.5 MPH) with the existing prop, slowing the engine down and increasing pitch, blades, and bite will make that even more of a problem. The prop you are looking at, and others like it are typically used on pontoons because they need to push a very heavy load at very high throttle settings . Low pitch equates to power. High pitch equates to speed. Somewhere in between is a compromise for any boating situation I'm suggesting that doing what you want to do is not it for your situation. Here's another example. If you have an 8P prop now, switching to a 6P would pick up about 400 - 500 rpm and you would move at the same speed you did before, but at 3500 RPM instead of 3000. This gives the engine more power and hence more control than going the other way. Your car traveling down the highway at 70 MPH in overdrive (equates to a high pitch prop) has the engine running very slow. Step on the gas and you see very little change in performance which forces either a downshift or a torque converter release to get the revs up. Now drive in second gear at about 25 or 30 MPH and do the same thing. You will quickly see how sensitive throttle response and speed control is. That's low pitch, higher rpm vs high pitch, low rpm.

ST is on the nose less pitch = more engine speed at same or less mph and more control while still staying in your trolling range.
