I have been thumbing around on the internet looking for an answer to my questions and stumbled accorss this forum. Maybe ya'll can shed some light on my little situation.

I bought an early 1970's model 15 foot Ouachita a couple years back. It was a project boat to say the least. It is aluminum with 3 bench seats and a fourth step in the front of the modified/deep V hull. What I have done so far...

fixed a weak/leaky transom.
plywood/carpeted the front bench to step allowing for a casting deck and seat on a swivel pillar mount with storage below (2 door access).
ran electrical for a trolling motor (50lb thrust), depth finder, navigation, off road front head lights, side interior lights (amber) for night fishing, and an extra power outlet; all to a switch board in the rear of the boat.
primed and painted the outside hunter green.
rewired trailer and placed LED turn/brake lights on guide on posts.

Now here's my question what size motor can I run on this vessel? I have not been able to find how large a motor is safe to put on it. The plate on the trandom is of course worn off and I was barely able to get the serial number off of it with a pencil shaving/drawing for registration/titling. I currently have a 5hp briggs on it but know it can handle more hp than that.

Also, as I love to tinker I am looking for the next project boat, and ready to sell this one. What do you think I could get for this on ebay or in the classifieds.

the post at the top of this forum is COAST GUARD RULES, clik on it, and you will find the criteria, for determining the correct horsepower for your boat. then you can email david@custommarinelabels.com and he will make you the placard you need to be legal, it's just a stick on decal. max hp, max persons, max weight. usually $5.00

as far a value, post some pictures using the go advance, and manage attachments, you can post directly from your computer.

So he can't just slap on a 100hp engine on it? :(
