Hi,

I just purchased a Reinell 22 sailboat and am looking for the original dimensions. The shoal keel has had an extension added to help keep her on point, but I'd still like to know the original beam and draft.

Re: Reinell 22 Sailboat Dimensions

Reinell 22 sailboats were designed by a man named Arthur S. Henry at the Reinell Boat Company in 1974. They started building the Reinell 22's in 1974 and were built up until about 1979 as far as I can tell. They did not change any dimensions of the boat or design throughout its production. The original design dimensions are as follows:
LOA: 22' LWL: 19.70' BEAM: 7.00' Draft (max): 2.80'
SA: 188sf
Displacement: 5800 lbs
5/8" thick fiberglass hull, fractional sloop with Finn (shoal draft) keel design
SA (Fore): 104.88 sf SA (Main): 83.16 sf Total SA: 188.04 sf
Mast Height: 22.80' Boom length: 8.4' Forestay length: 24.59'

Re: Reinell 22 Sailboat Dimensions

Hello SCPIR,
I'm estimating the weight of my Reinell 22 (1976) plus the trailer to figure what towing capacity I need on my next car. Do you have the weight? Do you know where to find it? Is there a reasonable way to estimate it?
Thanks,
Cabeza de Vaca

Cabeza de Vaca,
It's been a log time since you posted your question, but I recently pulled my trailer out of the water after 4 years. I was able to pull it with my F-150 with no problem at all. I built a new trailer for it and it was heavier than the one that originally came with it. I would guess that it weighs 3-4k pounds. Hey, they made them pointy in the front so they can tow better, right? lol

Re: Reinell 22 Sailboat Dimensions

Hi guys: I own a Reinell 2200 sailboat and I have seen in multiple places the displacement listed as 5800#. I'm sure this is wrong, or maybe the term "displacement" means something other than just what it weighs. Mine rides on a single axle trailer and the tires do not squat down even with only 40 PSI in them. I would guess the weight at around 3000 to 3500 pounds. I pull mine with a Suburban, but I'm sure a 1/2 ton pickup or midsize SUV would do fine.
