G'Morning fellow iboater's.
I wanted to use the 2bbl holley that came factory installed on my 2000 volvo penta 5.0gl on my new 5.7l. Reason? For an easy break in. I have the 4bbl edelbrock but want to use the 2bbl for ease of use and then put the 4bbl and msd ignition when it's nice and broken in.
I looked up part numbers and it's the same carb for the 5.0gl and the 5.7gl but is there difference in the jet sizes?
I have never experienced a lean condition in a 4 stroke motor and wouldn't even know if it was happening. I plan on taking my boat out today for it's "maiden" voyage and do not want to melt a piston.
Thanks

Re: Confirm Carb. usage.

A quick call to Holley, with the carb 'list' number will confirm exactly what size engine your carb is suited for. They may also be able to tell you what the jet specs would be for the 5.7 'listed' 2bbl. Which 2 bbl is it? the 300 or 500 cfm. I find it hard to imagine that a factory would stick a 300 cfm on a later 350 ci engine. The list number can be found stamped into the air horn.

Re: Confirm Carb. usage.

Thanks Boom.
I called and he said that he had very limited info. He did say it had size 69 jets and should be good for up to 550-600cfm???
He mentioned that this model was actually spec'd by Volvo penta and they were just contracted to build them.
The carb number is Volvo penta # 3858339
Holley number is # 75004-1
Date stamp is #2359 (he said it meant built on 235th day of 1999)
Thanks for your help.:)
