3 wire tilt problem solved for 1967 sport four evrinrude.

my , would not work. i start the motor , i taken the three wires ground, and the up, down wires . then i went directly off the wires to a battery.
neg to black and the up to positive .....nothing the motor did not try to work or make a noise at all.

the battery was good 12volts....i look at the motor the black wire negative
is screw in at the top of the motor . so i remove the screw and cleaned the surfs of the motor where it ground to the motor and the screw itself i sand the rust off , also the black wires loop connect, i sanded all three hook back up . again i took the neg to neg and the up to positive and the suck lift the motor up like one of those guys from the old WFF wrestling. see pic

so there is my tip: know i have 2 problems.

after let of the switch under no power the engine slowly start to drop after being raised... i think the fluid is low?
dose that sound right???????

next see pictures (far right)
which hole dose fluid go in top or bottom
top being half rusted / with white paint

bottom being the totally rusted screw that will not come out
please help

The upper screw holds one of the field coils in the trim motor. The lower one would be the fill/level. Low fluid won't cause the trim motor to run slow, it would run faster. Water and corrosion in the trim motor will make it run slow. The black is ground or negative. The blue wire is Up and the green wire is Down.
