Re: tilt problem

If your tilt assy has but one tilt cylinder, it is not a tilt/trim unit but rather just a lifting device which is not designed to hold when under power.

If your unit has two cylinders, both of which are outside the transom brackets, the problem is usually what is called a stand up valve which would be located in the bottom of the starboard cylinder.

Which do you have?

Re: tilt problem

Have you checked the fluid level in the trim motor? There should be a screw on the side of the trim motor. If you unscrew it a little ways the fluid should drip out. If it doesn't then its time for some more. Also air can get into those cylinders and cause it to lose tilt and trim power.
