Carb Plug Thread Sealant ?

Hi,
Merc 115 inline carbs have a screw plug on the bottom that gives acess to the main jet, this plug has no gasket but appeared to have some kind of sealant on it. Mine were leaking and I want to use the proper sealant. Does anyone know what is the correct thread sealant to use on this plug?

Bob. The threads are tapered such that when you tighten the plug, it snugs down. I usually tighten 'em up and smear some silicone over to seal any air leaks.

The hex head over the high speed jets use a gasket and the other slotted plugs, 222 loctite or finger nail polish works well.
