Knocking Noise

I have an 89 Aloha I. I just replaced the u-joints and gimbal bearing. I aligning the gimbal bearing. When the trim is all the way down I get a knocking noise when I turn left or right all the way. The noise goes away if I trim up a little. Any ideas of what it may be?

Welcome to iboats.....:)
You most likely do not have the gimbal bearing aligned perfectly......
I never turn my wheel to the stops anyway........;)

They will make some noise when all the way down and turned hard over. If you straighten it out a little it probably also goes away, right?

PS: In the future let us know what engine and drive you have. Doesn't matter what kind of boat it is in this forum.

Thanks. I will remember to post my engine and drive. So you don't think this noise is anything to worry about?

Re: Knocking Noise

Finally figured it out. The gimbal bearing was not seated all the way in. Once I got it seated correctly and put it back together, it runs great and does not make a sound when I turn it. Thanks everyone for your input.
