trim gauge problem

An authorized Mercruiser technician did some repair work on my Bravo3. Ever since, I've been having problems with the trim sender. It seems to slip. As if the teeth on the sender retainer does not grab the teeth on the pin. After looking at it myself I noticed the hinge pin on the gimbal ring is recessed a half inch or more. Is this correct? Or should the pin be flush with the outer edge of the gimbal ring?

Re: trim gauge problem

There is a thick washer that sits in a groove in the bellhousing. If it was left out, the pin would set into the gimbal ring too far.
I would suggest you take it back and have them check it. Before you do damage to the gimbal ring or bellhousing.
