2000 225hp EFI Merc loss of mph

i noticed at the begin of this year i have lost about 8mph in top speed in my boat from last year. runs good no missing and i have changed the plugs. i have noticed it will spin out some times when i get up hard but not real bad. suggestions? is it in the engine or the prop. the prop is not in bad shape just a few dings i dont think it needs to be reworked. however the engine runs fine just the sudden loss in mph.

Could be a number of things. Have you added weight to the boat? Carrying more fuel? Prop could have some to do with it as well. I make sure mine is fully clear of all dings. Also, did you check the throttle adjustment?

would you simply take a file to the prop to get the little dings out or take it to a prop shop. i not sure i know where the throttle adjustment is

Your boat wasnt exposed to the weather this past winter? Uncovered filled with water, foam soaked?

You might want to check weight!
