Re: 115hp inline6 worth

Well here in Vancouver I have seen freshly rebuilt 80's towers of power asking about $4200. Powerheads rebuilt exchange for $2700.
I got my '86 with a boat and trailer for $750.
I took the motor off and sold the cleaned up boat and trailer for $2500 LOL with an old merc '65 65 that cost me $500!
I replaced the tilt /trim and rebuilt the I6 30 over for less than $1500.
So to answer your question it all depends on your negotiation skills and how motivated the seller is as well as the condition of the motor.
If the compression is good, and everything runs well, Then $1000 would be a good deal although even if you paid double or more you are getting a bargain compared to a new motor.
If the motor does not run or has bad compression, then I wouldn't offer any more than a few hundred.

this needs to be direct to the Austrailian members. your motor to the US is worth nothing, as shipping would negate any value.

I was looking around for over six months for a merc inline 6. I found a mid 70's 115hp with the boat and trailer he wanted $900 but got him down to $600 cause it had low compression but i changed my mind when i found out how much it was to reco.
I ended up traveling to sydney and picking one for $2500 but it was in really good condition fully recoed.. 135psi all cylinders.
I have seen them sell on ebay for as little as $300 but if you want to strip it down as parts you will make nice profit :) I know the distributor-less ignition motors sell quick!

You could sell one as parts and use the profit to buy yourself another hull easy.. Here's an example..http://cgi.ebay.com.au/4-5meter-Car...QQihZ019QQcategoryZ102698QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem The 65hp on it would sell for $600 easy!

This old girl would take a 115hp merc. SHE'S THE ONE ON THE BOTTOM (CARIBBEAN COMARO)

these are a classic boat and goin cheap! Most poeple don't know much about the older boats and what motors they can handle :) This would be one very quick boat with a merc on it! Unreal ski boat! This is one example.. there plenty of other halfcabin, runabouts, ski boats, if you find anything you like just show us somes pic's.. I might be able to find out the details about it...

if that caribean was in the states i would be all over it. equates to $414US. the trailer is worth that much.

Re: 115hp inline6 worth

Sourbsted, can you tell me what make, model, length and max hp of the boat is? Curious because it looks like what i'm after,

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j5/jasonzaicos/savageescort.jpg

Thanks.

It is a savage escort. It is 5m in length. Max hp is 150hp. It has the same hull as savage pacific. The engine well has been changed on mine i think it has spose to have seating either side of engine well. They are fairly common their is a similar type called savage ensign (Seen one with 175hp on it) which is longer and has higher side's would be much more sea worthy.. Hope this helps you... cheers :)

Sour, I cannot imagine that that boat is really rated for a 150HP motor. It looks like it would run really fast for a while, until the hull split, the transom cracked, or it just flipped over. I will bet it does real well with the Merc 850

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Savage-Escor...yZ102698QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thats what i thought i have seen them johnson 115,150hp.. merc 140, blackmax 150hp... i called up boat place that had one it had a 150 johnson he said it was rated max 150hp. I had an outboard mach in the boat with me he said i could run a 175hp but wont chance that!
Shes not fast either only gets up to 65kph so the mach says...
