My 9.9 hp evinrude is stuck in forward after I tapped the fin on the launch ramp on the way in. I think this may have done something because it worked fine the last time out and now it does not. Moving the shift lever does nothing. could there be an issue with the shift rod and connector? What would be a good place to start? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-

Unless you really rammed the lower unit, I don't see a "tap" as doing anything really bad.

When you shift, can you feel the detents "clicking" in for forward and reverse?

If not, you may want to drop the lower unit and check the shift rod connector. May have popped out.....although I ain't seen one do that.

Be interesting to find out what's going on there. I would drain the lower unit lube and see what, if anything, may be floating around in there.

I dont feel much of anything when I try to shift just the top end of the assembly seems to move. I will take off the lower end and see what I can come up with. Thanks-
