I have a 1966 Fisherman 6 HP (6602E-E04245) which was having trouble starting the last 2 times out.
Last time it wouldn't start at all. When I pulled the cover off the motor, I could see that the plastic gear that engages the flywheel from the top of the rope-pull shaft was stripped.
I have looked on the internet for an hour this morning and can't find that part - I'm not sure I even know what it is called.
Where do I find a replacement plastic gear?
And is there anything more durable than plastic available in a replacement part?
This happened with 8 scouts aboard the sailboat, and as a scoutmaster, the boys have been giving me a hard time about not "being prepared" with a replacement part. And I probably deserved it
