Mariner 9.9M parts research problem

I recently purchased a Mariner 9.9M outboard engine. The plate says 9.9M 682C 335036. After getting the run around at a large chain I've found out that the 682C is a serial number code but I have not been able to find out what year the serial number is. I'm trying to order the linkage from the manual choke knob/button to the carb...any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx Mark

I believe it's a 1982, made by Yamaha. You'll have better luck going through a Yamaha dealer. If you order one through Merc, it'll be on a slow boat from Japan. Verify it's the correct part from the 1982 Yamaha 9.9 parts diagrams before ordering. (I'm betting it's no longer available. :()
