some one once answered a thead on here and in the last sentence he said do not buy your oil at WalMart. Well, I just when in our local WalMart and here is what I found. Quick Silver, Evinrude, PennsOil, and Castrol, so what am I suppost to buy somewhere else? I only know these brands.

georgiaboy,, I think the intent of that tread was don't use the store brand oil not buy oil there. I would personal recommend the first two you listed, I think you will find oil a very touchy subject and it is really up to the owner of the unit after all it's his dime that has to pay for repairs.

If you want to pay extra for advertising and promotion then go ahead and use the prestige brands.

WalMart's house brand, SuperTech, is plenty good enough for any non-DFI outboard unless you are going to go to full synthetic.

The days when a lower price automatically meant inferior quality are gone.

The costs of promotion and advertising are a huge part of the price of many prestige brands of anything. Because house brands avoid those costs they are often higher quality as well as lower priced.

For your 87 50p? Anything you get now is better than what was available then. :)

Just don't get caught in the Amsoil trap thinking you can spend a little more to use half as much.

I use the Pennzoil synthetic blend - about $12 a gallon at Wal-Mart. And unlike the outboard branded oils - it's not made by the lowest bidder.
