Nice forum

Well I have a 1972 Mercury 20HP 2 stroke engine. It was purchased from a friend and had not been serviced in a while. I changed the gear oil using quicksilver and the spark plugs. I also added a small fuel filter and cleaned the engine. Here is the question.I wanted champion J4C spark plugs but had to settle for AC Delco R45's...will that affect my eninges performance?

What else can I do to optimize my engines performance?

Thanks!

Hi there,

The AC R45 plugs are the J4C equivalent, so no problems there. The easiest way to optimize the performance of your engine is to have it serviced annually, give it clean fresh fuel and good quality oil (I've found the Quicksilver TCWIII to be good). Give it a good flush at the end of the day and keep it stored in the upright position.

Have fun....

Thats good to hear...the engines run fine since the new plugs and I have been using only quicksilver oil as well for the engine. Thanks for the advice!
