A local turkey hunter told me that the Tom is about 2 years old based on the tail. I shot quite a few photos and that Tom has about a 1" spur which is visible in a few.
I still get as many as 20 in the yard but the Tom's are strutting now. This one was very terratorial with his harem of about 7 females (ahhhh to be young again) and went after the other Tom with determination. Actually today ended up being the best weather day of 2007 so far.
The Spring season starts on May 1st but I had to promise the wife I would let the local birds live.
I like to watch them.
