I have a Seaswirl bowrider 230 with a 5.7 280 hp Volvo penta sx drive.
The drive gears are 1.43. The boat weighs 3800 dry. With a light load, and 40 gallons of gas the boat comes on plane easily. WOT speed is about 46mph at about 4500 rpms. This is with a 19" volvo aluminum prop. The manual recomends 4600-5000 rpms for WOT. I am going to buy a new stainless prop.
I know I can increase the rpms by getting a 17" prop, but does going to stainless change the equation? Any advice would be appreciated. I tube,ski, and wakeboard. Also cruise alot at lake powell. I do live in high altitude area
(4500') The fuel injection seems to work great. Thanks for your input. Also any ideas on top end speed with new prop?
