Smile Bought used boat, need information

I just bought a 1996 Crestliner 2160 Phantom with a 130HP Envinrude. The boat has been in storage for 9 years. It is being serviced and is getting a VRO fuel pump, plugs, impeller, fuel filter, solinoid. I paid $3,600 for the outfit with a Shorelander trailer and will spend $800.00 at the service. Did I get a decent price? Any concerns about the motor? Boat?. I have been boating for about 15 years, but never with an outboard. Any help anybody can give me, I would appreciate it.

Especially if it was stored inside?
And it is an 11 year old boat so at the max it has only been used maybe two seasons?
Flush the fuel tank(s) out too.

What is the story on it's 9 years in hibernation?

And I thought I got a good deal on my Crestliner several years ago.
I'm jealous. Great boat.

Been there done that. A few years back I bought a "show room" boat. The guy who owned it pasted away from a heat attack and it sat in storage for 4 years before I bought it from his widow

What I came to find in short order was that all the rubber on the boat had deteriorated to the point of failure. All the fuel and oil lines had dried out and dry rot had begun to set in. I ended up replacing all the hoses all the way back to the fuel and oil tanks to resolve the issue.

A year later I had water show up in my lower unit. Upon inspection it was found that the seals in the lower unit had gotten hard from setting and had begun to fail after use. I had all the seal replaced and the problem never reared its head again

Well, everything has been serviced at the marina. About $700.00 for everything it needed including flushing out the fuel tank and system. The guy I bought it from firgot to put the plug in when he took out his 80 year old wifes parents, stranded himself in the thousand islands for four hours becasue the place he bought it from only gave hime one starting battery and the boat has an electric trolling motor and baitwell, etc. His wife also does not swim. The boat still had the original spark plugs in it as the marina showed me they still has the factory paint on them. I've since had the boat out several times and am very pleased with everything. It work wonderful. Anybody have any thing I should need to keep my eye on for this boat and/or motor package? I've read a bunch of stories good and bad about the VRO fuel pump, but anything else. By the way, this is a great website.

Welcome to iboats. I think the other posters may have missed that it was your first post. I have had no issues with the vro system but having said that some posts I have read make me nervous as well. Keep it serviced and i hope you have the same success that i have had so far.
Enjoy your boat.

I just bought a 2000 aquasport 215 osprey, 21' dual console, with a 2000 evinrude 200 hp outboard. I have 3 questions, all of which I,m embarrassed to say I don't know the answer to!

1) Is this a good boat? or a bad buy?

2) Can anyone tell by the ser. number on the motor what type it is? (2 stroke? 4 stroke?) ser.g04793661

3) what type of trailer should this boat be on? I think it should be a dual axle.
The dry weight of the boat is 3215 lbs.
