Tilt trailer...........Why??

I've had several small fishing boats over the years and they all have had "tilt" trailers. I just recently bought a 14 foot fiberglass skiff to run my crab traps and it came with an old Magic Tilt trailer. I've launched boats hundreds of time at all forms of landings and still can't figure out the point of having a tilt trailer.

Can someone inform me? The reason is probably so simple I'll feel like an idiot one I know, but know I don't.

I think the only real benefit to having a tilt trailer would be if you have a really steep or limited-access ramp; you wouldn't have to back quite as far in.

Helps if you are launching/loading in 4" of water.
Also helps if you have to launch from a sea wall or river bank, 1-2' above the water.

if you've ever had to dry load a 19footer own a bad ramp, you would know why. the trailer tilts, to support the hull as it is pulled up the trailer. we have much better ramps, than we had 40 years ago.
