Re: Where's my thermostat?

Yea, there should be.
But a lot of people with tools and little mechanical skills take them out and think they are cureing an overheat. When actually all they are doing is keeping the temp sender very cool. The back of the engine usually runs hotterl............... But the gauge show cool

Re: Where's my thermostat?

Could this possibly cause the stalling from idle to trying to get out of the hole and me having to feather the throttle if the motor would not warm up? Also what other symptoms could this cause?

Also one more question. How dow I trim my engine w/o the power trim (manual) is there a starting point? Any tips would be appreciated.
Thank, very much.

It could be stuck on the underside of the housing, too...

Re: Where's my thermostat?

Anybody have any ideas on my last couple questions about trim and stalling?

That's caused by a Carb hat Needs Rebuilding,.... Make Sure there's a New Acc.Pump included in the Kit.........

How dow I trim my engine w/o the power trim (manual) is there a starting point?

Start with Where it Is,....... See How it Rides,+ Adjust accordingly......

I agree with Bondo. With no thermostat running in cold water that could also cause the engine to stumble when you apply the throttle. With the engine warmed up to where the choke is open pull the flame arester. With the engine off look into the CARB with a good flashlight. Have someone disengauge the shifter like when starting then while you look down into the carb have them pump the throttle. Each time they push it foward you should see a stream of fuel pumped into the carb. If you see none then the accelerator pump is bad (very likely) or the float level is set too low. One point with out the engine running pumping the throttle will empty fuel from the carb and the accelator pump will have nothing to pump. So start it up with the flame arestor on to refuel the carb then try again.

We rebiult the carb last year because the boat would not idle once you let off throttle (like from half or full throttle to idle). After the rebuild it finally would idle.I believe it was a full rebiuld kit. PS. you can see it pump fuel when flame arrestor is removed.
