150 Merc overheating?

I have a 150 Merc on a 1988 skeeter, the temp gauge keeps going right to the max of the temp gauge. I have water shooting out the pee hole, not sure if this is a water pump problem or what? Any way to test it? What does replacement cost on something like that? thanks guys!

Probably a stuck thermostat. But if the impeller is over a few years old, it needs replaced also.

Pull the thermostat out and put it in water and heat the water. See what temp it opens.
