I picked up an old Ted Williams 7.5 with a boat I bought for $100, it'll start up, run at high rpms then dies. But it WILL start right up again with no problem. If anyone has any experience w/ a Ted Williams 7.5 air cooled, I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanx in advance,

Jake

I'm going to bet on a gummy carb. Varnishing from old gas will block passages and make it hard to keep going. They use the same carb kit as a Tecumseh 5Hp and thereabouts. Common as dirt. You got a great deal, motor running or not.

The powerhead is air cooled, but the exhaust is water cooled. You should always run it in water to prevent water pump failure. The motor will still run with a failed water pump, but it'll run better if it's pumping water.
