I have an '82 johnson 50 that is giving me some trouble. I guy at work says he has a 65 in his garage that he thinks is an '85.
I will get a good look at it next week, but can I throw out a few questions???
1. Did johnson make an 65 hp in the eighties?
2. If so, would I have to grill new holes in the transom?
I know these might be stupid questions, but i'm trying to save myself a trip to the next county.
Thanks to all of you who take the time to share some ideas.

There were Johnny 65s made in the 80s, but also in the 70s. They are different engines, though based on the same triple looper design.

You need the model number off the 65 to find out.
