How much should this motor smoke when running in a tank. I fired it up in a tank in my garage (with the door wide open) and I could see a good haze. I think it might be running a little rich. The motor runs smooth at idle and full power so is this normal?

If you are running it using a 24:1 mixture in the garage, you will see a pretty good haze. Once out on the water and you have a chance to blow it out running it, it will not be so bad...

Re: 1960 CD17

I did a major tuneup last fall with points, coils, condensors, decarbed pistons and head, carb rebuild along with impeller and lower resealing and that was the last time it ran @6months ago. Well see when it gets warm enough to get it on the water. I just wasnt sure because I completely rebuilt a 53 Lightwin and it diddnt seem to smoke that much as this.

Thanks
