'79 Evinrude 35hp - Cylinder not firing...kill switch?

My bottom cylinder works most of the time, but occasionally decides not to work. This sounds like a loose/bad connection. I'm still trying to track it down but have heard that it could be the connection from my kill switch.

Has anyone heard of problems with the kill switch cutting power to only one cylinder?

the kill switch would kill all cylinders, sounds more like the coil getting hot and failing. you can completely change the postion (not just change the plug wire) of the coils, pay attention to where the wires go, move top to bottom , and bottom to top, if the top stops firing, you know it's the coil, and replace.

Could also be the ignition wires.

The last time it happened. I fired up the motor, and took a leisurely lap around the bay. It died after only about ten minutes of running. I suppose that the coil could have gotten too hot, but I never even came close to running it at WOT.

that's about average time for a coil to get hot. as Solittle said, check all connections also.
