2000 140 johnson trouble

I'll try to explain my problem as best I can. when I'm running at 3000 rpms or better, my motor will act as if I've pulled my throttle all the way up, then back on full throttle, then all the way up, then back on full throttle... you get the point. The only thing I've done so far is changed spark plugs. I need help, Going to rainy river in four days. thaks.

Well, could be a LOT of things....I would check fuel vacuum after primer bulb and have clear vinyl for connection to check for bubbles....vacuum at idle should be less than 2 1/2 inches....should be less than 5 inches at WOT....how old is primer bulb? Fuel pump original?

Sounds like SLOW to me. Clean the oil tank and filter before the VRO pump. And see if slug had built up in your oil tank. Try this take it real easy when you take off and slowly increase the RPMS until it acts like it is missing a cylinder. When it does go back to ideal and take off again and see if continues to run like it is missing a cylinder. If it does go back to ideal and turn the key off what for a few and start it back up and if it will run good under 2000 to 3000 then sound like it is misssing a cylinder again then it is SLOW. Either heat or oil.
