Boat: 17' center console heavily loaded and always used with bimini top up
Outboard: Merc 115efi 4-stroke ('04)
Gearing: 2:07-1
Current prop: Trophy Plus 17P
Current max rpm: 5,300

Since I low-speed ocean troll alot, a 4-blade works better for me since it keeps the boat speed constant better than 3-blades (in the swells).

What can I do to get my rpm's up more towards 6,000?
Mercury Vengeance is available down to 14P (I believe) but I really would like to stay with a 4-blade in the ocean. I have considered having my current 17P Trophy Plus re-pitched to 15P.

Any thoughts?

Repitching would be the cheapest option but 1" is usually the max change with stainless props. Solas makes aluminum 4-blades and I'm sure they'd have a pitch you like. Stainless props are usually go-fast props and low pitches are frequently unavailable.

Thanks Willy for the reply. I note that Solas makes the "TorqueMaster" series but they are too pricey for me. I will likely look for a shop that can turn my 17P Trophy Plus into a 15P.

Thanks again.
